  • Audition Registration Procedure

By Monday, May 28, 2018 at 12:00 noon

singers interested in auditioning must submit a cover e-mail to

listing the following information at the top (as shown below):

    1. Name,
    2. Voice Type/Fach
    3. Telephone Number
    4. E-mail Address
    5. Postal Address
    6. Roles Sought.   We may very well consider you for more roles than those you expressed interest in, but you MUST specify the role or roles you are auditioning for.
    7. Availability for/interest in covering roles
    8. Links to video or audio clips of recent performances. Your video needs to be on YouTube or a similar video hosting site, or on a website. Do NOT attach clips to your e-mail to us.   PLEASE NOTE: offering video is not a pass/fail requirement, but applicants who offer video clips will be given priority for pre-screening. Candidates will be considered without A/V materials, as well.
    9. Current resume indicating education and experience (roles performed, covered, prepared.) Resume text must be included in the BODY of the e-mail (NOT as an attachment)
    10. A description of any special accommodations (schedule, physical, etc.) needed in order to be able to audition.
    11. A headshot (file no larger than 200K). This is the only attachment allowed with the email)

Applicants will be pre-screened using the materials above and on a first-come-first-served basis.  We typically get a 3x1 ratio of applicants to available time slots. We simply cannot hear everyone who applies.

Applicants who pass the pre-screening will be offered an audition on one of the dates listed above. Some applicants may be wait-listed.  Out-of-town applicants are encouraged to apply well before the deadline.  We will make every effort to pre-screen them promptly to make it easier for them to make travel arrangements.

All applicants selected for audition will receive an e-mail invitation on or before June 4. In order to secure the audition slot, they will need to pay a $20 audition fee by 5 p.m. on Wed, June 13.  They will receive a PayPal invoice for that amount together with the invitation to audition. The invoice is payable through PayPal or credit card. No checks or cash will be accepted.  Slots with unpaid fees will be released on June 6 at noon, and offered to wait-listed singers.

Applicants will be assigned an audition slot after paying their audition fee.  They will receive a payment confirmation e-mail  and an e-mail with the exact date and time of the audition.

Applicants invited to audition are expected to sing material from the operas for which they are auditioning.  A piece in the same language and style may be acceptable, but in such cases, applicants will be asked to e-mail us a pdf of the vocal score excerpt no later than a week before their audition time, for the staff accompanist to review.

Singers do not need to bring an accompanist.  Those interested in bringing their own accompanist may do so.
