Premiered in Vienna in 1782, Abduction was Mozart’s first big operatic hit in the Austrian capital. It’s a classy comedy about a Spanish nobleman’s expedition to Turkey to rescue his beloved, who had been kidnapped by pirates and sold into the Pasha Selim’s harem (or "seraglio"). It features some of Mozart’s most difficult and truly spectacular arias for bass, soprano and tenor.  We present it in its original “exotic” Turkish period setting, with lavish costumes and video-enhanced sets, and a stellar cast.
